July 2024

Hi Everyone,

As I write this in late July, “summer” seems to be flying by with little to celebrate!

The rain is lashing at my studio window and the weeds in the garden are laughing at me. All in all, it’s not been a great summer so far. Nevertheless, Ihave been able to escape to the Cornish coast and have included a couple of my latest on site.

There is still time for a hot August and an Indian Summer into September, so fingers crossed!

“The Land, The Sea & The Sky” was inspired by a wonderful sky observed at Trevose. With that wonderful feature, the rest fell into place from experiences in the area. “Pendeen” was one of many wonderful scenes visited in the company of Paul Lewin, the fantastic seascape artist. I attended a short course to really observe his methods in watercolour which are fabulous. The colours in the water were superb and there was no way that I could not give my interpretation of this wonderful view.

“Mid-winter glow”, is something different, perhaps on a bad weather day, thinking ahead to the December weather. However, never a depressive thought, I think it reflects the beauty of nature, even in the darker months. If you are looking for Christmas cards, (nothing like forward planning), I have a selection of seasonal cards available. Most of my other paintings are also available in greetings cards. If interested, just give me a call.

There are a few events coming up, where I will be exhibiting: –

  1. Drawn to the Valley’ Summer Exhibition
    Butchers Hall, Tavistock
    6th – 10th August, Admission free.
  2. ‘Drawn to the Valley’ Open Studios Exhibition

Oh………. The sun has just appeared!  It reminds me of the Allan

Sherman song of ‘Camp Granada’, ………. “And we’ll have fun if it stops raining”

Keep smiling,

Geoff
