Hi to you all,
Welcome to Spring and some fine weather too, after a rather stormy start to the year!
In August/ September last year, I held a very successful Open Studio event at my studio, in connection with the “Drawn to the Valley” group of artists throughout Devon. This was my first Open Studio and I am told that numbers were down on previous years due to the Covid situation, but it was good to meet a steady flow of visitors.
Since then, I have produced some new paintings which have just been included in my Gallery.
The new year storms inspired a new painting entitled “Storm Force”, depicting the power of the sea. I returned to Crackington Haven to produce “Low Tide at Crackington Haven”, which features part of the amazing rock formations, which appear at low water. “Bossiney” is a lovely little cove near Tintagel, a climb to get down to, but the spectacular cliff rises high above the beach and is quite impressive.
“A better day” is a study of light on the sea and calm peace, but “Alderney Race” evokes memories of some fairly hairy sailing in the Channel Islands! “Constantine Bay” recalls a warm sunny day enjoyed by me and Holly the Lab on the beach and in the water. The latter being the dog who just loves to swim. Too cold for me!
Event : I was very pleased to have four paintings accepted for the 2022 Delamore Arts Exhibition at Cornwood near Ivybridge, Devon PL21 9QT, which now runs from 1st to 31st May. This is a very popular and prestigious event attracting local, national and international artists and sculptors with paintings and other fabulous art works displayed in the house and some fantastic sculptures set in the beautiful estate gardens. Pick a sunny day and it is assured to be a wonderful day out. All items are for sale.
Event: I am pleased to say that I will again be holding Open Studio at my address in Lewdown, Devon from 27th August to 4th September, so looking forward to meeting more art lovers. I will give a reminder nearer the date.
Hoping for a glorious summer,
Best wishes to all.
